    Now that it's spring, check out the monstrous snowman we made last month! He was created on a Sunday night with a beautiful but soggy snowfall. Let me just say, it was Chris's idea to make him this big. He about had a hernia rolling those snowballs around, and we had to get a stepladder to put the head on. The next morning (when we took the first picture) he was nearly a foot shorter already. That's TN weather for you.

    This guy was a true Vol fan. (That's Volunteers, for you people unfamiliar with Tennessee football.) He was all perky as he and his friends headed off to the big game together:



    By that night, his joy had melted. The Vols got creamed, his friends had left him, and one of his arms had broken off at the shoulder. Also, he had lost all facial features except his mouth. Bad things happen around here when the Vols lose.

  • We went to a house warming party for our friends Rob and Ellen on Friday. Since this was also Flag Day, they suggested that people bring flag themed side dishes or desserts. So, we made a flag cake. Although you can't see it in these pictures, the cake itself is a swirl of red white and blue, too.

  • Meet this year's jack-o-lantern, Mick! I cannot stress enough how enormously gargantuan this thing is. Ariel conceived and drew the face on the pumpkin and I carved it. I think Ariel surpassed her efforts of last year with this masterpiece although I think I deserve a medal for her making me carve so freakin' many teeth.
